Ummm... The Dem's signature achievement will be passing unpopular (read: necessary) economic policies ... that will help Republicans (read: the nation, and thus, Democrats).

As Obama indicated at the beginning of his administration: He creates broad policy guidelines and lets the rank-and-file handle the details. Once a bill is created that he agrees with, he promotes it as hard as he can. By any definition other than yours, this is "driving the agenda."

"Weak, almost Carteresque, approach to foreign policy"? I think the 4,500 Marines tasked to take the fight TO the enemy, in the country where they actually ARE, would beg to disagree.

True, Healthcare reform will not happen before 2010, but I'm a bit confused... Since when did elections happen in January? Or do the Democrats literally have 13 months to get something passed? And I'd like to see the date and text of the comments you mentioned? Were they made before the Democrats officially got to 60 seats in the Senate. I'm wondering if Inhofe understands why that number might be significant?

As it were, I do congratulate you on putting a Republican spin on the current political state of affairs. As a partisan, you have yet to fully grasp that the American people realize that this moment in history is a test of the American way of life, and have elected a man who will speak to them plainly and honestly about the challenges ahead of us. Should he succeed, against Limbaugh's wishes, the high 50's will be the low point of Obama's popularity.

Remember, the Republican leadership is virtually unchanged from the one that 8 years ago crowed about forming a "permanent majority" (and how much does that in line with American values?). But until the Republican leadership accepts and embraces that fully 90% of the problems facing the administration were left by the previous one, they will be the frog in the pot of water. And the heat the Republican party is feeling might not be global warming...
