Healthcare Overseas

While health care costs in the United States continue to increase. many Americans are saying now that they would be willing to go overseas for treatment if the costs were cheaper.

29% of respondents in a recent poll said they would be willing to look overseas for treatment of a major illness if the costs were cheaper.  24% say they would be willing to look overseas for cancer treatments.

The numbers however increase when you tell people the care would be the same but the costs for treatment significantly cheaper.

40% of Americans would consider medical treatment overseas if they knew the care was equal to what they would receive here in the U.S.  37% would consider cancer treatments overseas given the same consideration.

There is a reason many doctors come from overseas to attend our medical schools and do their internships here.  That reason is in America, whether the system is perfect or not, we have the best health care in the world.  If Americans think that going overseas will get them equal care they are sorely mistaken.

Remember, you get what you pay for in life, and my health is not something I would leave to chance by going overseas for medical care.
