Important Judicial Seat At Stake Today in PA Primary
Today is Primary Day in Pennsylvania and despite it being an off year election and little press paying attention to the election, the importance of the Primary today is huge.
In November, the balance of the PA Supreme Court lies in the hands of the voters of Pennsylvania. Today, the Democrat nominee has a clear field and awaits the winner of a three way Primary between, Joan Orie-Melvin, the state Republican Party’s endorsed candidate and Cheryl Allen and Paul Panepinto.
As a client of WRS, we are obviously pulling for our good friend and client Joan Orie-Melvin. But more is at stake for Pennsylvanian’s. At stake is who will ultimately decide the lines in re-districting and at stake is a PA Supreme Court that will be held by a majority of strict constructionists or strict activists.
States like Iowa have seen the power that these courts wield when with the stroke of a pen the state of Iowa legalized same sex marriage. Not by the vote of legislators, chosen by the people to represent them, but by strict activist judges forcing their agenda and will on the people of a state.
So today is an important day in Pennsylvania. While Joan-Orie Melvin is a client of mine, she is by far the most capable Republican to win November and Pennsylvania simply cannot afford a Democrat controlled Supreme Court in the coming years.
I will try to up date you during the day as I hear things from the ground. Off to vote!
