Top of Obama’s new adgenda: Domestic Issues (a.k.a – the Economy)

It’s no surprise that the American public overwhelmingly want Obama to concentrate on domestic issues first. A recent survey indicates that the economy and jobs remain the most important issues – more important to Americans than the war ever was.

The same survey shows what Americans view as top priorities for Obama over the next four years:

Improve the economy     40%
Create jobs in the US      11%
Address/end Iraq war     10%
Health insurance plan      8%
Change foreign policy      2%
Keep country safe            2%
Bring Bipartisanship         2%

Americans are clear on what they want, the question is now whether Obama can deliver.  Another survey shows that expectations run high (maybe even too high), as 65% of Americans believe that the Obama administration can improve the economy.  And, the same survey indicates that Americans are placing responsibility for the economy at the feet of President Obama:

If you had to choose, who do you trust most to improve the economy?
Obama       44%
Private Sector     28%
Congress     16%
Unsure      11%

Obama is facing record expectations.  Only time will prove how patient Americans will be regarding Obama’s daunting task.
